After putting it off for a long time, we finally talk about documentaries, and they're all old!  Yet still hauntingly relevant.  Did Tiger King incite this episode?  Darn Tootin' it did!  We spend a few minutes waxing about that as well.  Eat the episode up & careful with the salt shaker..

Episode # 186: Marvel Chapter 2 - X-Men 1st Class

June 10th, 2016

Morevel!!  MorX-Men!!

This week, we take you down the path where the Fox lives.  As it lives, it chokes out so much potential from various franchises & series.  Is it better now than it was when they took hold of Xmen nearly 20 years ago (we know, right?!) ?  Put on some leather & spandex and tune in to find out...  We will say up front that the newer Xmen films have managed to attach new faces to characters that we can love (Lawrence, Fass & Mac).

Apocalypse thoughts.  Matt had fun and liked Oscar Isaac's performance better than the trailers.  Characters were under-used; if we look at ladies, Civil War did it better.  His take was that Marvel lapped itself in the month of May, but really they lapped Fox.

While spending less than Marvel for CA Civil War (see our thoughts in the write-up for the last episode below), it made about 1/3 in its opening weekend.

Episode #165: Epic-Sode VII: Das Boot

July 12th, 2015

In the past, our pursuit of the EPIC-sode has taken us from the foggy moors of Scotland to the history-laden shores of the Ganges.  Terrain that we’ve yet to explore in all its moist epic-ness (or epic moistness?) is on tap this week.
Okay, it’s not so much terrain as an element (like Earth, Wind & Fire, not like the science-y element as it's a compound).  It can be harsh, intoxicating & cruel.  Is there a better setting to have an EPIC told in?

The answer is no

Das Boot’s been on our radar ever since our inception, but seeing as neither of us had screened it, we wanted to keep it in our proverbial “Back Catalog” til a time arose when it might rise from the murky abyss and show us all what “Epic” really means.

Suffice to say:  We were not disappointed and neither shall you be.
